In der weltweiten Burlesque Szene finden sich neben den medienbekannten Namen wie Dita von Teese und Immodesty Blaize natürlich noch wesentlich mehr wundervolle Personen, die diese Kunstform schon ein halbes Leben zelebrieren. Diese Personen sind die Hauptgründe das die Burlesque und Vintage Mode wieder in so großer Vielfalt auf den Stangen der Designer hängt. In Berlin tümmeln sich unglaublich viele Entertainer(innen) in der Underground Burlesque Szene, gerade gestern durfte ich mal wieder Teil eines unvergleichlichen Events in Hamburg sein… Auf der anderen Seite des Ozeans gibt es eine Person die ich dank moderner Technik für ein Interview begeistern konnte – sie nennt sich THE WORLD FAMOUS BOB .. und wer jetzt denkt das ist ein Künstlername der irrt. The world Famous Bob beschreibt darin eindrucksvoll das Burlesque Lebensgefühl als eine unglaubliche Bereicherung für jeden Alltag. Nicht nur Kleidung oder Abend-Entertainment haben einen Einfluß auf diese Kunst, auch die Musik und die Literatur kann sich nicht entziehen. Da meine gebundene Büchersammlung aber eher aus Bildbänden und Kunstfotobüchern besteht greif ich da lieber zum Download Hörbücher. 😉 … macht sich auch besser beim schreiben….

Burlesque & Alternative Fashion:
After you have been hosting for many events, doin‘ so many shows and being a model for so many special photographers, I am asking myself, which is your absolute fabourite memory?
BOB:
I have quite a few GAY-MAZING memories but one of my absolute favorites was the first time I went to Paris to perform.  I went with famed photographer David LaChapelle and Amanda LePore.  I probably don’t need to say another word- it was one of the greatest trips of my life!

Heidi Klum has invited Dita van Teese to work as a coach in the TV production „Germany’s Next Top Model“ to show the girls how to move in front of the camera. What would be your advice when you teach people being a DRAG Artist?
I think it’s really important to work on your look constantly and don’t be afraid to try new things! Also please do remember that EVERYTHING has been done before so PLEASE study your history – nothing worse than a new Queen who doesn’t know anything about Stonewall.

I met a lot of wonderful personalities during the last six years. Who was the most moving person you met?
The most inspiring person I have EVER met is Dixie Evans, the 84 year old Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque.  She created The Burlesque Hall of Fame that is currently located in Las Vegas- she has a smile for everyone- stories that will make you blush- & can still pose for the cameras! She is my ultimate inspiration!

There is a boom in burlesque revivals all over the world. Can you give me some informations about your new show or do you take part in a new movie?
The Current film that is out Dirty Martini & The New Burlesque features me and is a wonderful inside look not only at Dirty Martini’s greatness but also the NYC Burlesque world.  I’ve been doing Burlesque for over 13 years now and still find it very exciting!  My solo show entitled;One Man Show- The True Story of Miss World Famous *BOB* is all about how I was raised and supported by Drag Queens and gay men.  I left home at 15 and it’s about that.

If you come to Berlin (and please let me know when 🙂 ) do you make the most of the opportunity to visit the specialist burlesque clubs or parties?
I’m very much hoping to do a show in Berlin and hope to attend ALL of the parties!

Please tell me one music act/singer apart from the rock’n’roll / burlesque scene (pop charts) you could listen to once in a while. And the next question: Which live concert did you attend last?
I LOVE this Brooklyn rap duo called Das Racist – they are really fun! Very witty and not politically correct.  I also LOVE The Cure- they are STILL my favorite band (25 years now- I am 38).  The last live band I saw was Brian Fisherman’s Xylophonic Burlesque Orchestra in Coney Island.

What do you actually think and learn of drag art and do you ever met Ru Paul, Lady Bunny or Joey Arias?
I have been really fortunate to work with many of the Drag Stars that I look up to when I moved to NYC 14 years ago- I have briefly met RuPaul and he was lovely!  I have had the thrill of working with both Lady Bunny & Joey Arias as well as my Drag Mother Jackie Beat.  I performed in 5 Wigstock’s including performing the opening ceremony for the final Wigstock.
